Cardi B Tweeted About Wanting to Buy a $88K Purse and People Shamed Her

Cardi B is the kind of star who loves to tweet out her thoughts, stream of conscious. It’s part of what makes following her so much fun, and part of why she’s constantly involved in ongoing, public conversations about her own life. Well, one such conversation was triggered today by her casually tweeting about a designer bag she’d like to buy, even though it costs close to $90,000.

Now, in a time when a lot of people are struggling financially, it’s easy to see how this tweet could rub people the wrong way. But it’s also clear that Cardi isn’t really the correct target for ire when it comes to how wealthy people behave. She’s given back over $2 million of her own money to those who are in need, as she points out during her clapback to the backlash over the initial tweet.

“Donate 88k to a charity for people that need help right now….u know the people that buy your music to perhaps get thru these shitty time’s…idk jus sayin….,” one Twitter user responded. She pointed out in response to his comment that she’s done quite a bit already.

This TikTok Hack for Cutting a Cake With a Wine Glass Is Pure Genius [VIDEO]

TikTok, a destination that’s become quite the hub for clever or wacky viral DIYs, has what could be the perfect hack for your next birthday gathering: Cutting a cake with wine glasses.

A video showing a unique cake-cutting method has gone viral, racking up over 1.6 million views and garnering some half-million likes since it was posted Nov. 22.

Posted by user @theroseperiod, a group of pals celebrating a woman named Jules’ 20th birthday begins with the b-day gal blowing out the candles. Then, everyone begins to serve themselves a slice of cake simply by using a wine glass to scoop the perfect circular piece, holding just the stem of the glass.

The hack is not only nifty, but quick to get started noshing on cake in a jiffy without trying to find a knife or wrestling to get the slice on a plate. But, beyond the speed, it’s the ultimate trick for anyone celebrating during the pandemic, since it requires no touching the food. The CDC reports that “no cases of COVID-19 have been identified where infection was thought to have occurred by touching food, food packaging or shopping bags.” However, the agency notes that it’s “always important to follow good food safety practices to reduce the risk of illness from common foodborne pathogens.”

Doja Cat and Roddy Ricch Lead Forbes’ ’30 Under 30′ List for 2021

Forbes has rolled out their annual 30 Under 30 list, and their 2021 class is headlined by some familiar names.

One of the artists featured is Roddy Ricch, who was highlighted for his success in music: In 2020, he won his first Grammy and performed well on the charts with Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial and “The Box.” The piece also discussed Ricch investing in Compton real estate and working on a foundation to promote financial literacy in the city. “Investing in Compton just felt like my duty,” Ricch said.

Also earning a nod was Doja Cat, who had a breakout year in 2020 thanks to “Say So” and her Hot Pink album. Other artists on the list include Lil Baby, Murda Beatz, Ingrid Andress, Gabby Barrett, Polo G, Brent Faiyaz, Conan Gray, G Herbo, Ava Max, London On Da Track, and Saweetie.

The publication explained the eligibility requirements of the list, writing, “To be eligible, candidates must be under age 30 as of December 31, 2019, not have appeared on a previous Under 30 list, and show their ability to propel the future of the music industry.” They also noted that this year’s judges were Taylor Swift, Warner Music Group creative officer Mike Caren, singer-songwriter Jill Scott, and Nija Charles.

Under Armour Teams Up With Steph Curry With Launch of Curry Brand

Stephen Curry is entering a new phase in his endorsement career.

The Golden State Warriors superstar is getting his own imprint with longtime sponsor Under Armour, called Curry Brand, it was announced on Monday.

The new line was set to launch this week, which Under Armour sees as an ideal time weeks ahead of the Christmas holiday and the scheduled tip-off of the 2020-21 campaign, set for Dec. 22.

“We wanted to make sure we did this as close as possible to the NBA season finally launching … and the fact that we’re launching in between Black Friday and the holidays we think is very opportune,” Under Armour CEO Patrik Frisk told CNBC.

The line will launch with basketball and golf apparel, as well as the customary basketball sneakers, the report said, and will eventually add women’s gear and running shoes.

Curry, 32, signed with Under Armour back in 2013, and remains its most notable endorser. Sixers center Joel Embiid signed on earlier in 2020.

The move comes as Under Armour aims to reverse recent losses in popularity among younger consumers in particular, the report said. The brand’s products have seen steep discounts at department stores and are often associated with performance rather than style, according to the article.

Curry was expected to return to the Warriors lineup after missing most of last season with a wrist injury. The Davidson product, drafted seventh overall by the Dubs back in 2009, has won three NBA titles and two MVPs, and is presently third for most 3-pointers made in league history.

Travis Scott Reportedly Made About $20M Working With McDonald’s

It’s no secret that Travis Scott’s brand partnership with McDonald’s was a highly lucrative success. Not only did individual stores across the country actually run out of ingredients for Quarter Pounders, prompting the company to change the ordering process, but the sales also helped lift the fast-food giant out of a pandemic induced slump.

Travis’s somewhat bizarre merch collections also sold-out in short order, driven by the popularity of one of the biggest entertainers in music today. Now, thanks to Forbes, we have a better idea of how much the deal made for Travis, along with similar ones with other brands.

As part of Forbes extended 30 Under 30 coverage, a feature focusing on Travis and his successful ventures turned up some eye-popping numbers for each of his deals with McDonald’s, Nike, and Sony PlayStation. According to Forbes, McDonald’s paid Travis at least $5 million for the initial endorsement deal, while the Houston rapper reportedly grossed $15 million from the merch sales. Travis’s partnership with Nike is estimated to bring him around $10 million a year, while the article notes that the increased cultural cachet is incalculable and invaluable in netting new partnerships.
