Mariah Carey ‘Stunned, Humbled & Grateful’ As Memoir Tops Best Seller List

Scoring No. 1 hits comes quite easily to Mariah Carey. Over the past 30 years, she has scored nineteen Billboard Hot 100 toppers, the most by any solo artist in history.

But the overwhelming success of her memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” has left her stunned and humbled. The memoir hit No. 1 on the New York Times best seller list for hard cover books.

The book, which narrates Carey’s life, including her career, romantic travails and the racial abuses she went through, hit stores last week.

“Wow. Stunned, humbled & grateful. Writing this memoir nearly consumed my life for the last three years,” Carey wrote on Wednesday after hearing the news about the book hitting No. 1 on the best seller list.

“U MAD, to everyone, who has taken the time to read my story & make this dream a reality. It almost makes it tolerable to have lived through these experiences! LOL,” she continued.

Halsey Shares Thoughts On Wealth Tax In Conversation With Bernie Sanders

In a new video series featuring a conversation between Halsey and Senator Bernie Sanders, the musician told the lawmaker that she is in support of levying a wealth tax.

In the video call aired on IGTV, YouTube, and Twitter, the two discussed a variety of issues such as climate plan, the future of America, LGBTQ protections, reproductive health and racial injustice.

Halsey made her stand clear on wealth tax saying, “For me personally, there is no amount of money that I think is worth personally contributing to the alienation, the disenfranchisement of millions – hundreds of millions of people across this country – which is why, despite being in the one percent, I support the wealth tax”.

“Because I believe that the people who oppose it are motivated by greed,” she added.

Halsey acknowledged that born in a “lower class family” with mixed-race parents, she is now part of the one percent wealthy category of Americans.

Halsey described the first presidential debate as a “reality television show.” According to her, it was “one of the most frustrating pieces of television” that she had “the misfortune of witnessing.”

“It certainly was not one of the great moments in American history,” said Sanders.

“Left fight, right foot, levitating / Popstars, Dua Lipa with DaBaby,” raps DaBaby on his verse.

Dua a made the video with the help of Tik Tok users, who submitted 150,000 videos in response to a “challenge” to help conceive the video’s concept.

Mariah Carey Shares Excerpt From Audiobook Of Upcoming Memoir

Mariah Carey took to Twitter to share excerpt from her upcoming memoir, “The Meaning of Maria Carey,” on Tuesday (September 22), exactly one week ahead of its release.

The audiobook excerpt finds Carey saying, “I never spoke of it, I stuffed it inside. I had to find a way to survive…”

The snippet features some vintage footage of Carey’s early days, with the song “Looking In” from her 1995 album Daydream playing in the background.

Kelly Clarkson retweeted the post, adding, “The amount of times I listened to this song as a kid is incredible. Still holds up. What a songwriter @MariahCarey is! Obviously an insanely talented singer, but the writer in her…. just wow. People forget she wrote ALL OF THOSE SONGS y’all.”

Carey thanked Clarkson, saying, “Thank you for acknowledging one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written it’s a huge compliment coming from you, because I know music is your life as it is mine. Love you and can’t wait to see you again.”

Earlier, Carey had been teasing the memoir for weeks and even dropped a few chapter titles on Tuesday. A phrase, “Thanksgiving is Cancelled” triggered some panic in the Lambily, after which she apologized and explained that it was simply the name of a chapter in the memoir.

Stevie Wonder Tearfully Discuss Breonna Taylor, Trump, And More In New Video

Deeply troubled about the state of affairs in the U.S., Stevie Wonder released a powerful YouTube video statement on Wednesday, airing his views on the death of Breonna Taylor, protests against the brutal killing of George Floyd and the Trump administration’s handling of these sensitive issues.

The seven-minute video was dropped just hours after a decision by a grand jury in Kentucky, which did not specifically charge any police officer for the killing of Taylor.

Louisville city officials announced last week that Taylor’s family will get a $12 million settlement.

“No amount of money has ever brought a life back. Ask yourself, ‘Why so long for Breonna Taylor?’” the iconic singer-songwriter said.

Referring to President Donald Trump‘s “losers and suckers” comments about dead soldiers, the septuagenarian artist said, “Why would we accept anyone calling a fallen soldier anything less than the ultimate hero? Why can’t we hear love – the greater truth – as opposed to being consumed and bombarded by conspiracies and lies?.”

Wonder urged his fans to vote this Election Day, saying, “We just can’t put November in the hands of fate, but we can put it in our hands.”
